WASTE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY OF THE KOTO TELUK VILLAGE GOVERNMENT, HAMPARAN RAWANG DISTRICT
Abstract
Waste management at the village level is a key challenge in achieving a clean and healthy environment. This study aims to examine the waste management strategy employed by the village government of Koto Teluk, Hamparan Rawang District. A qualitative research method was used, utilizing interviews and observations for data collection. The research findings indicate that: a) the formulation of the waste management strategy complies with regulations, specifically through the construction of a 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) waste facility as mandated by the Sungai Penuh City Government, alongside the provision of facilities such as three-wheeled waste collection vehicles and waste processing equipment; b) the waste management strategy currently implemented by the Koto Teluk Village Government encompasses collection, preliminary sorting, and transportation; and c) the village government actively participates in directly supervising the waste transportation process to ensure operations align with the plan. Furthermore, the village government routinely inspects supporting facilities such as waste bins and transport vehicles to ensure they remain in good, functional condition.
