Educational Innovation in Islamic Education Management to Improve the Quality of Pedagogical Training for Private Higher Education Institution Administrators in Jakarta
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to analyze educational innovations in Islamic education management to improve the quality of pedagogical training for administrators of private universities in Jakarta. The study employs a qualitative field research approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving university leaders, academic administrators, quality assurance units, and senior faculty members. The results indicate that educational innovations have begun to emerge but have not yet been institutionalized as systematic, measurable, and sustainable programs. Pedagogical training for administrators remains sporadic, is primarily directed toward faculty members, and has not been designed to align with the specific needs of administrators roles in academic leadership. The findings also reveal variations in understanding of educational innovation, budget constraints, administrative burdens, weak coordination between units, and the lack of strong integration of Islamic values in training design. Nevertheless, some administrators have demonstrated initiatives for renewal through learning evaluations, faculty mentoring, and the utilization of academic technology. This study concludes that strengthening pedagogical training for administrators is a strategic necessity. Private universities in Jakarta need to establish a training system that is relevant, collaborative, grounded in Islamic values, and integrated with institutional quality policies. This system is expected to strengthen administrators capacity to design development programs, evaluate learning processes, lead organizational change, and ensure that educational innovations align with the needs of the institution, faculty, students, and the surrounding community in a sustainable manner.
