Abstract

This research aims to examine strategic cadence as a managerial pattern through which small and medium sized enterprises coordinate people, digital tools, routines, and customer demands in daily work. Strategic cadence is understood as the recurring rhythm of managerial sensemaking, prioritization, and follow up that allows organizations to move from fragmented digital activity toward coordinated action. The formulation of the problem is how owners, supervisors, and operational staff shape coordinated managerial practices when digital orders, production capacity, and customer expectations move at different speeds. The novelty of this study lies in its field based qualitative attention to the lived routines of orchestration inside SMEs, rather than treating digital transformation only as technology adoption or formal strategy. The research uses interviews, observation, and documentation in selected SMEs in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The draft findings indicate that coordination becomes effective when digital signals are translated into shared work priorities, documented decisions, and trusted supervisory routines. The conclusion emphasizes that SME competitiveness depends not only on digital access, but also on the managerial rhythm that aligns resources, people, and learning across units.
